Happy New Year Fellow Rotarians!!

This week Maestro Charles Peltz will be visiting us and updating us on the Glens Falls Symphony.  Glens Falls symphony will be performing Sunday March 17 at 4pm at the Zankel Music Center, Skidmore College.  For more info:  theglensfallssymphony.org

You survived the first six months of my Presidency!  No earplugs were worn and Karen Carpenter hasn’t cried once!  I have thoroughly enjoyed it so far and really look forward to the next six months.  The Christmas dress is retired …temporarily! None of what we accomplished could have been done without the help of all of you.  Thank you and let’s get to work on the next half of the year to make our community and world a better place for all!

This week we celebrate club members January Birthdays.  Remember – it is customary to make your voluntary donation to the Glens Falls Rotary Foundation in the amount of your age.  Proceeds go towards our Youth Scholarships.

A great big Thank you to Jackie Touba and the Touba Foundation for the generous donation of $1,000 towards our Dictionary project with the local elementary schools.  This contribution goes a long way towards providing third graders with their own personal dictionaries which they can keep forever.

We need help stuffing race packets on January 20th at 1pm at the Association for the Blind on Ridge Street Glens Falls.  This is our opportunity to give back to the organization that helps us with our 5k race event April 13th.  Please sign up online.

We are still working on our Nominations for the board of directors under the leadership of Chair PP Harrison Freer.  We are behind schedule on this but assure you it will be accomplished shortly.

After many years of having the pleasure of meeting for board meetings at the SAIL offices, we are now moving to the Conkling Center.  All members of the GF Rotary club are welcome to attend.  They are held the fourth Thursday of each month at 7:30am

Want to know what we raised for our Salvation Army Bell Ringing?? Stay tuned.  I am working on getting the final figures from Captain Leo Lloyd.  And while we are talking Salvation Army – Thank you to all who came out to fill food bags and sort the food!

Lastly – Please mark your Calendar for the 114th Celebration of Rotary.  Thursday February 21st from 6-8pm at The Hyde Collection.  A flyer will be sent out soon with details.  Our Club is hosting so it would be nice to have a great turnout.  Cost will be $30 per person and space is limited to the first 60 who register.
