David Palmquist, our District Historian from 2013 - 2018 and current adjunct professor at the University of Albany (SUNY) gave us a great presentation of the history of Rotary.  He showed us how Rotary started in Buffalo, NY in 1912 and progressed to Rochester, Syracuse, Albany, Troy, Schenectady, and then to Glens Falls.  Even back then, clubs were helping disable children (most likely for Polio).  Clubs grew quickly in those days with Albany reaching membership of 85 in just four (4) months.  Similiar to today, clubs were made up of middle class employees of local businesses and business owners, and were comprised of men.  In 1987, women were allowed in the clubs which has been an great addition to Rotary clubs.  In just a little more than 3 years from now, Glens Falls will be celebrating 100 years as a club!

The Glens Falls High School Interact Club (High School Rotarians doing coomunity service) is selling One Exterior Car Wash from Hoffman for $10.  Five (5$) will be donated back to the Interact Club.  In addition, each ticket has a coupon for $18 off a Jiffy Lube Signature Service Oil Change (Retail price of $24.99).  Contact Jennifer Brink for tickets.  Checks should be made out to: GFHS Internation Club.

This is Foundation Month and we encourage you to give to the foundation.  Foundation Chair Kim H. will be sending out further information.

We have two new members – please introduce yourself.
Captain Leo Lloyd – Salvation army Captain and sponsored by Charles Adams
Adam Feldman – Habitat for Humanity Director and again sponsored by Charles Adams
We will support both of these organizations with upcoming projects – it’s already a great connection!  Welcome to our newest Rotarians!

Paul Harris awards given out!  Congratulations to Dan Hazewski for earning PH +1 and PP Jim Goodspeed for earning PH +2 .  For those new to the club – Paul Harris was the founding father of Rotary.  A Paul Harris award is given for the first $1,000 donation to the RI Foundation.  This happens over time most often.  The “Plus” is an additional $1,000 given.  These are great supporters and believers in the foundation.  Please consider giving any amount during this Foundation Month.

Mark your Calendar:  We are ringing the Bell for Salvation Army Saturday Dec 1st.  Schedule will be online soon!

Warm the children is starting – please help out by adopting a family to shop for.!

Update on our Water ProjectPP Bob Rosoff has worked diligently to finish the Water Project which has been a few years in the making.  The GF Rotary club is absolved of any repercussions by the slowness or failure of the Haitian Rotary Club to submit the final report of the water project in a timely manner.  This means that we will be able to participate in another global grant if we so desire in the future.  Thank you Bob for all your time and effort (and travels!) to get us to the end.

Have a wonderful Rotary week!
