So my first meeting was a little scary as the front desk for checking members in was did not have anyone. We eventually, got up and running. Thanks to everyone who helped make the meeting a success.
Art Norton has returned home from his rehabilitation at the Warren Center for Rehabilitation and Nursing. On June 27th, the board vote on changing Tom Haley membership status to honorary. Congratulations to Art and Tom!
Our program this week was Natalie Sillery from the Ronald McDonald House Charities of the Capital Region to talk to us about their plan for a retreat house in the village of Lake George, NY. The retreat house is called Krantz Cottage and is for families who need a break from the grind of taking care of loved ones while being treated in the hospital. Although, the closest Ronald McDonald House is in the Albany area, Natalie pointed out the majority of those who stay live away from Albany and want to be avoid the driving back and forth to Albany when a loved one is being treated at the hospital. The Foundation Board will be reviewing the request to contribute to this cause at our next board meeting.
July 17th - There will be a evening meeting at Coopers Cave from 5:30-7:30 for anyone who would like to come, including friends and family. Have a drink, appetizer, meal, or nothing at all. I hope to see you there.
Veterans Appreciation Breakfast November 6, 2019 - The Conkling Center and the Glens Falls Senior Center are joining forces again this year to sponsor the Veterans Appreciation Breakfast at the Great Escape Lodge. Sign up has begun for veterans who would like to attend this event. If you are a veteran or know someone who is please consider this event and sign up through either one of these organizations.
Speaker this week - Judy Moffitt, Co-Chair, Friends of Recovery will give us an update on the opioid crisis.
