Good Evening Fellow Rotarians! I hope you enjoyed this incredible fall weekend! It was really cold on Saturday night, just a taste of what is to come!
Now, for anyone who missed this week's Zoom call, we had the pleasure of hearing from Dan Durkee, Senior Public Health Community Educator, Emergency Preparedness Coordinator of Warren County Health Services.
Dan gave some information about how COVID has changed our community and how the opening of schools and increased travel during Labor Day impacted our numbers.
He gave some suggestions for continuing to stay safe during Halloween, as well as breaking down some of the numbers that we are seeing. He also noted that there are resources available through their website to help community members find testing sites closest to where they live. Please take advantage of these if you feel you need to be tested! There was a question about how Vermont got their numbers that put both Warren and Washington County on to their "restricted" list. According to Dan, they use data complied through Johns Hopkins University that seems to count cases in a different fashion than the New York State website. This leads to numbers that vary widely and may confuse some people looking at the differing data. For more information on how the novel Coronavirus is effecting our community, please click on the link I have provided below to Warren County Health services website!
Now, I ask you all, how can we help spread the word about the resources that the Warren County Health Department provides? How will you be handling giving out candy during Halloween this year? What precautions are you going to be taking? How can we still come together as a community and celebrate the holiday in a manner that will protect our neighbors?
At the top of your spinoff (just like last week), you will see a box saying "Click this....". I have included a link to the recording of the Zoom meeting so that if you missed it, you can still catch up on the latest news on COVID-19 in our community with Dan Durkee to keep our community healthy and safe! You will have to enter a passcode when you click on the link, I have provided it above on the link so that it is easy to see and write down.
Thanks for reading, and I can't wait to see everyone on the Zoom call this Thursday!
