Rotary Donates Children’s Books to Crandall Library
The Glens Falls Rotary Club has followed the lead of several other clubs by no longer giving its guest speakers a parting gift to thank them for speaking at their meetings.
Instead, they will donate a children’s book in the speaker's name to the Crandall Library to serve as a lasting reminder of the speaker's visit to the club.
Its a win-win situation for all concerned. The club gets to thank the guest speaker and honor their visit to the club's weekly meeting. The Crandall Library and the children who borrow from their collection get more books to further their reach into our community.
The first such speaker to be so honored is former Glens Falls Mayor and incumbent Warren County Treasurer Francis O'Keefe. He spoke at the October 11th meeting of the Glens Falls Rotary Club and was asked to sign the first book to be donated to the library.
The idea was floated by current Club President John Mucha who brought the idea to the club's Board of Directors for approval. The Board was fully in support and bookplates were produced to stick inside the book to recognize the donation.
Club member Christine McDonald could not be happier; she's the Director of Crandall Library and welcomes the club's generosity.
The Glens Falls Rotary Club is a community service and business professional organization aiding charitable causes both locally and worldwide.
The club meets every Thursday at noon at the Queensbury Hotel. The club can be reached at P.O. Box 4702 , Queensbury , NY , 12804 or online at www.glensfallsrotary.org. John Mucha is this year's President, Tom Haley is the Club's Secretary.
